About New Vision Pioneers

Our Mission

Pioneers is a network of volunteers who effect immediate, tangible change in local communities, in partnership with their sponsors.

Our Vision

We are the recognized world-class leader in volunteerism.  We are respected and valued by our members, our corporations, the global community and our industry.  We are committed to the diversity and personal growth of our members, the success of our companies and to improving the quality of life in our communities. their goals.

Pioneering Values

Inclusive and Relevant
We embrace members with different backgrounds, skills, and beliefs, because we know fresh ideas and unique viewpoints are necessary to meet the current and future needs of the people we serve.

Trustworthy and Compassionate
Our incredible success to date and our strong future is due entirely to our network of understanding, sensitive volunteers who thrive on responding to the critical needs of their communities.

Transparent and Accountable
As a volunteer and donation-driven organization, we make a promise to all our members and sponsors that we will be open about our business practices while maintaining the highest standards of financial accountability and integrity.

Our History

The Pioneers legacy is long and inspiring.  It all began in 1911 with just 734 members (including Alexander Graham Bell).  In the beginning, friendship and fellowship were what it was all about.  Industry people recalling the facts, traditions, and memories of the early history of the telephone.  But those who wrote the original Pioneers purpose were forward thinking in adding that it would also encourage “such other meritorious objects consistent with the foregoing as may be desirable.”  That became what would make the Pioneers different from other industry groups.

One of those “meritorious objects” translated into community service.  Chapters, councils and clubs began their own initiatives, mostly working with childrens groups.  By 1958, community service was established as the Pioneers’ “New Tradition”.  Today, the organization is the world’s largest group of industry-specific employees and retirees dedicated to community service.  Pioneers volunteer more than 15 million hours annually responding to the individual needs of their communities.

Our motto is “Answering The Call Of Those In Need”. Our projects cover a wide range of community needs including Education, Environmental, Health & Human Services, Life Enrichment and Military.

As with all non-profits, funding is a primary concern. Our funding in small part comes from member dues, and in large part from our retirees who continue to have a connection as former dues paying members and/or volunteers in their local chapters. Chapters also fundraise locally to supplement the funds they receive from National and Group fundraising efforts and Grants. More funding would mean more support to many more agencies, adults, children and families in our communities

I would like to take this opportunity to Thank all the Pioneers of the New Vision Group for their outstanding service to their communities. In 2023, with some COVID-19 restrictions limiting personal onsite visits, New Vision Pioneers donated food to food kitchens, clothing and hygiene supplies to domestic shelters and veteran homes accumulating a total 215,879 volunteer hours x $29 a volunteer hour = $6,260,491.00  back to our communities in volunteer time!

Those are only the hours we know.

If you have an email, please share it with us. We regularly send out information on Volunteer efforts, your local chapters’ newsletters and upcoming fundraising efforts. If you choose to get your information from us in this manner, it will save the Chapter money that can be directed to a project.

If you are on Facebook, Like your local Chapter’s Facebook page or the Group page (https://www.facebook.com/NewVisionPioneers) to keep updated on everyone’s  efforts. Just type New Vision Pioneers in the Search bar and you will find those that have a page.  We will continue to develop strategies to best serve our members, our communities and the growth of our leadership.

Please continue to support the New Vision Pioneers in volunteering and reporting your time, donating to national marketing appeals and local fundraising efforts. Continue to be engaged and communicate with us and each other.

I look forward to serving you in 2024.  I may be reached at paul.redline@verizon.net
